A large stadium is filled with hundreds and thousands of spectators. Everybody came to see the fight between man and beast. A man is standing in glittering clothes with a sword-like weapon in one hand and a red sheet in the other. A bull will enter the arena alone. The man will be waving the sheet in front of the bull. The raging bull will charge the man and the man will swiftly avoid the charging bull. People will applaud the man’s bravery. This game is all about how the man saves himself from this raging bull.
The game goes by the name- ‘Bull Fighting’, and the man holding the red sheet is known as the ‘Matador’. It’s a popular game in Spain. But the question is- ‘Why do bulls hate the colour red? Why do they attack the red sheet?’ Most of us avoid wearing red coloured cloth when we go to ‘Qurbani Haat’, why is that? Why is the colour red so hated by the bull family? What wrong did it do to them? What might be the answer?
The answer is a bit peculiar. The bull gets angry on the red sheet because it is ‘Colourblind’.
What is Colour blindness? Colour blindness is the inability to see the primary colours (Red, blue and green).
The truth is bulls cannot see red. They are colour blind. They have no idea what red looks like.
Though bulls are colour blind but they still charge the red sheet because they perceive the brightness, not the colour. Many tests have been carried out to prove that bulls cannot see red or any other colour. Multiple coloured sheets have been used. And it has been concluded bulls charge the red sheet not because they hate red, but because they are annoyed by the waving sheet.
Red is a bit brighter than other colours. When the matador waves the bright red sheet during the game, the bull becomes annoyed and angry. So it charges the sheet, attacking the matador becomes its first priority.
Matador has a weapon which he uses for self-defense and offense. He tries to tame the raging bull. This goes on for some time, after that the bull becomes wounded and exhausted and dies. Someone has died in this game. And most of the angry beast dies in the hand of the clever matador.
