Cricket World cup 2015 has started and already fans are at war. Everyone is supporting their team passionately. Storms are being raised in tea cups. And we would like to fuel this madness with some fun facts of cricket.

We are all familiar with the word 'Warm Up'. It's the collection of pre-game activities that initiates the body. Games like Cricket and Football require vigorous strength. Not everyone can conjure this much strength. Thats why some of us can't play these games well. Some are expert in indoor games like Chess and some in outdoor games like Cricket and Baseball. So, players need to warm up before initiating in such strainful games. Warm up increases the body temperature and makes it ready for the game. Cricket players are seen jumping, running and stretching when they are entering the field. These are also a part of warm up. Batsman swing their bat in the air when they are on the crease for warm up.

Cricket requires a substantial amount of strength and energy. A cricket ball weighs around 5 oz. We don’t need to mention how much strength is required to throw this ball at speeds around 100-110 km. Fast bowlers often arch their body forward or run a bit further in order to keep their balance. A cricket bat weighs around 3 pounds. A batsman uses almost all of his strength to swing and hit the speeding ball with this bat. And fielders have to run very fast to stop the ball from reaching the boundary. Warm up is a must for such strenuous activities.

Cricketers practice almost every day in order to maintain their performance. Both physical and psychological strength is needed to play the game, and regular practice helps to increase confidence too. Players do various warm-up exercises. Running is the best exercise, and everyone in a cricket game has to run. That’s why running is an important warm-up exercise for cricketers. Batsman sometimes run while holding the bat over their head. This position increases the effectiveness of running. Push up and Roll over are also effective. Good bowlers practice bowling many times before the game. We often see bowlers bowling the ball towards a fellow fielder. This is a part of the warm up. A player may be a batsman or a bowler. But being a good fielder is mandatory. That's why the coach makes everyone practice fielding before the game. This fielding is beneficial to both batsman and bowlers and is a good way to warm up.

Players run around even after the game. This helps to keep the body fit. Warm up pushes the body to its peak of ability, this helps the body to respond elegantly and quickly. Warm up reduces the chance of any injury by making the body durable and flexible.
