Crafts are a great way to get the kids’ creative juices flowing. And obviously it’s fun! Now, a lot of people think crafts require expensive art supplies, and some of them do. But I wouldn’t burden you like that. Just go ahead and recycle old shampoo bottles and make something pretty (or scary)!
You will need:
- Empty Shampoo Bottle
- Scissors
- Black and White Stickers or Plastic Paper
- Cutter
- Adhesive Glue (Fevicol or something similar)
- Double sided tape
Instructions:
- Take the labels off the shampoo bottle and clean it thoroughly. You can use an old toothbrush to clean it completely.
- Insert the cutter an inch or two below the head of the bottle and cut it off, creating a rough shape for your monster’s head. You can trace a shape with a pencil beforehand, but it won’t be very necessary as you will need to cut around it again with a scissor.
- Use the discarded head of the bottle to create your monster’s arms. Cut out one arm from each side of the top part.
- Stick the arms on the back of the bottle with glue. Press it down firmly.
- Draw an outline for the monster’s face on your black and white sticker/plastic paper. Do the same on your bottle and proceed to stick them on to their respective spaces.
- (Optional) Stick double sided tape on the back of your bottle to stick it on a wall.
This was an example, take it up another level. Give your monster horns and spikes, a tail maybe? Use different coloured paper to make it colourful! You can use any bottle lying around at home. Shampoo or lotion bottles are better, since they are mostly made from thick plastic. This is fun to make and adds colour to your desk. But remember to be careful with sharp objects and have fun!
