The universe is really big, not just big, the actual word would be vast! Scientists have been able to look through telescopes up to a distance of three trillion light-years, and still they could not see any end.
Recently, the most exciting news of space science is, there might be two more planets, the size Earth, and the surprising thing is these planets might exist in our very own solar system.
There are 9 planets in our solar system, (Pluto’s status as a planet was debated for a while, but now it's considered as a planet again – a dwarf planet). Other than Pluto, Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun.
The fact that made scientists think about the existence of two more earth-sized planets is the unusual effect beyond the Neptune’s orbit. Now the scientists are thinking that our solar system could be actually bigger than we think.
Spanish lead scientist Professor Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) said: "This excess of objects with unexpected orbital parameters makes us believe that some invisible forces are altering the distribution of the orbital elements of the Etno, and we consider that the most probable explanation is that other unknown planets exist beyond Neptune and Pluto."
"The exact number is uncertain, given that the data that we have is limited, but our calculations suggest that there are at least two planets, and probably more, within the confines of our Solar System."
One problem is that the theory goes against predictions of computer simulations of the formation of the Solar System, which state there are no other planets moving in circular orbits beyond Neptune.
But the recent discovery of a planet-forming disk of dust and gas suggests planets can form long distances away from the centre of a solar system.
So let’s wait and watch if two Earth-sized planets could really be hiding in our solar system. Will our future textbooks be different from what we studied? Will the number of planets go up from 9 to 11 now?
